    China International Fashion Week

Between March 28 and April 3, China International Fashion Week 2004/2005 (autumn/winter season) at the Beijing Hotel Wangfujing became the focus of Beijing and China.

Jeans suits, down jackets, the latest in female and male attire, hairstyles and makeup were all on display (including a special show by makeup artist Ji Mi) and everything seemed to delight and dazzle the spectators.

Models displayed the new trends for this autumn and winter from Bosideng, Yingda, Weipeng, Edenbo, IZOD, EAGLEPTY, Han Song, Daniel Faret, Yundun, Cabbeen, Fashion Island and La zenel.

The regular parts of Fashion Week were back, with the 12th China International Young Designers Contest and the 5th China Fashion Design Rewarding Fund Appraisal both proving their longstanding popularity. In addition, China's first Swimsuit Design Contest was held during the week.

1,458 design works from 25 countries were sent to China for the China International Young Designers Contest, and 33 young designers from 19 countries were represented in Swimsuit Design. Such a large number of entrants meant that the China International Young Designers Contest boasts more participating countries than even the Paris International Young Designers Contest.

Well-known models including Miss China Guan Qi, Wang Min, Liu Duo and Wei Jie, as well as 100 others showed the fashion on display to its best advantage in 21 separate catwalk events.

The event also saw more partnership between international designers and fashion-related brands. One of the featured international designers was Mr. Han Song from Korea, who also participated in 2002 Fashion Week. He worked as designer for TROA New York and Seoul after 1993, established his own corporate Han Song Couture in 1997 and won the New Designer of the Year Award at the 1999 Seoul Fashion Awards. His designs for this year's event featured night gowns in classical style. His show was sponsored by the French cosmetic brand Bourjois, who believed that Han Song's style reflects their own energy-rich and free spirited image.
