The Arch of Triumph was erected in 1982 on the Triumph Return Square at the foot of Moran Hill in the capital city of Pyongyang, as a manifestation of north Koreans' firm wish and unshaken resolve to eulogize and glorify forever the late President Kim Il Sung's immortal exploits.

This is precisely the historic place where the late President Kim Il Sung, who had set out on the road of revolution while still a boy, offered his first greeting to Koreans after leading the 20-year-long anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle to victory and returning home in triumph.

A grand structure 60 meters high and 50 meters wide, the Arch of Triumph is a stone edifice piled up with over 10,500 pieces of finely-dressed white granite.
