''The Best Men 2005 in China'' Underway

Trends Esquire, the simplified Chinese version of one of the world's top male-oriented magazines, Esquire, started its second ''The Best Men in China'' awards programme on November 10. Ten gentlemen will be selected as outstanding Chinese ''esquires'' in 2005.

''The award was inspired by an election of 'most influential figures' of the 1980's organized by American Esquire. Bill and Hilary Clinton were included on that list. Ten years later when Bill Clinton lived in the White House, he said he was impressed by and grateful for that election. Trends Esquire, as China's No. 1 male magazine, hopes to establish good models for Chinese gentlemen," said Wang Feng, the editor-in-chief of Trends Esquire.

The 2004 Best Men Award, though the first of its kind, achieved great success and was well-received by celebrities. This year's event is better organized and planned. The magazine announced 26 candidates, including director Hark Tsui, Hong Kong star Andy Lau, Tom.com CEO Wang Leilei, Chinese Badminton Team's head coach Li Yongbo, CCTV emcee Li Yong, painter Ye Yongqing and more.
